That is because while they are good friends they are still two competing websites. Curse doesn't export addons to Wowinterface and neither does Wowinterface export to Curse. An addon author has to upload and/or maintain and update an addon on either site themselves. That is why an addon could be up to date on Curse but not Wowinterface. As for the Curse Mac client support was dropped as development on it was lagging behind the PC version too much.
Probably as they couldn't find a Mac dev with enough time to do it. The only two Mac devs the Curse team have are too busy with other projects right now. This much I already knew, as well as some authors dropping WoWInterface.com for Curse.com and the access to CurseForge.net repository/CVS site. Go to school to learn what, coding?
CS courses exist for that for sure. If you mean just to learn about computing, they have those too, though I've been using computers since I was in the second grade way back in 1983 (we had Apple //e computers in my elementary school class since I was part of the G.A.T.E. I was among two people that actually knew how to take apart and maintain our Apple ImageWriter daisywheel printer for example.

Curse client still works fine. In fact, unofficially it was discontinued 2 major versions ago. They just had a pipe dream of hiring a cocoa dev to take it over that never happened. Mac coders are super rare.
Look at blizzard. They have been hiring a dev to work on battle.net desktop for 1-2 years now (well BDA now, launcher/tools before). They STILL haven't filled that position.
As a result, they had to pull a developer off wow to work on BDA for time being:. Companies are having a real hard time finding mac coders right now. It's a real shame.
A lot of new devs go straight to throwing together their own app for iOS (much larger user base to target, and a 99 cent piece of crap app could still make you a few grand if it's fun enough). That's where the real money is. Getting a 9 to 5er at blizzard or curse is meh. Which is too bad.
Working on Blizzard's Mac team would pretty much be my dream job/career. The only problem (aside from having JUST moved to the opposite end of the country) is that I don't meet the job requirements Blizzard put up on the site. Software development has been a passion of mine for a very long time, but I've had a very, very rocky start.
I'm 29 years old now, and I'm STILL trying to get the ball rolling simply because schools aren't offering the appropriate degrees. No one offers courses on fields I have any interest in. Microsoft Office and Java courses just aren't where my passions are. I've grown up on computers. My father taught me MSDOS when I was just 3 years old, and over the years I moved up to Windows, then Linux, and eventually over to Mac development as the years went on. So I'm essentially self-taught in everything I know. When I went to my local community college to get my associates degree in Telecommunication and Computer Networking, back when that was about the only computer related course colleges offered, I HATED it.
I was already way beyond anything they taught me there. So that was the most boring and monotonous two years of my life, and even though I put an honest effort to learn something new, they didn't really offer anything I didn't already know. And over 10 years later, that degree did almost nothing for me. I feel like all that money I earned and all that work I did getting a 4.0GPA in highschool was essentially wasted. I could've dropped out of highschool/college, and still done just as well as I've done this far.

So in a case like this. I meet the requirements short of the Computer Science degree. UI development and Human Interface Design have always been at the forefront of my expertise. It's why I went to Mac OS originally. Mac OS UI design just makes SENSE to me on a fundamental level that I never quite grasped on Windows. Windows UI paradigms have always frustrated me. So when I moved to OS X's dev tools, it was like walking into a dream.
I've applied several times to similar jobs at Blizzard, and never been contacted once simply because I don't have more than that associates degree in a crappy field. Despite being fluent and proficient in every other aspect of the job requirements. I just haven't had any real luck as a Mac developer trying to make a career for myself. I've had a big hand in a lot of prominent open source Mac apps over the years.
And have a lot of that kind of stuff under my belt and on my resume. But I just haven't had ANY luck finding a paid position beyond short-term contract work. Despite having the knowledge and the passion. So it's no surprise that Blizzard hasn't filled positions on their Mac team. There just isn't any real readily available opportunities for anyone not passionate about Windows as far as college courses go. So now I'm trying to find work as a writer. And while writing is another hobby of mine, it feels like a fallback.
Regarding Stoneblade's issues: Blizzard, give him a break and hire him. I have my Master's in Information Systems, most of it coding. I can assure you that most degreed coders can't touch the skills of the self-taught coder passionate about what he does.
Perhaps half a dozen people in my Master's program were genuinely talented at coding and truly understood what they were doing. My issue was being female and 50 when I graduated. No job offers were forthcoming even though I had been employed part time by one of my professors in his consulting business (which he offered to only the best coders) and worked as a graduate assistant. I am retired now and living comfortably. Stoneblade needs a chance to show what he can do.

Version 4 for Mac has been in for some time now, and I'm happy to report it's pretty good - far better than version 3 ever was. I have no idea how the Windows version is, but the Mac one is probably better than ever was, from a usability standpoint, without that nagging 'steals bandwidth from hosting sites' issue.
Things I like about it:. It's pretty fast. It doesn't lock up for seconds at a time, and it doesn't max out my CPU. It works well with links on the Curse site to install addons; it also makes it pretty easy to get new addons from within the updater. It's easy to update all your addons; one click does it. The changelog for a new version is pretty easy to bring up, in case you're wondering whether to update.
Things I don't like as much:. The icons on the 'Update All,' 'Install/Update,' and 'Uninstall' buttons are completely unintuitive, especially the relationship between 'Update' and 'Update All.' Since when does a circle mean 'all'?. There are still some addons that aren't in Curse's database.
That's not really Curse's fault, but it does hurt how useful the app is a bit. The fact that you have to mouse over an app in the preferences dialog to see the path to the app is absurd. The path should be below the app name in (possibly smaller) gray text. 'Get More Addons' should not display addons you already have. The icon is too shiny.
(I know, I know. But it is.) As you can see, though, the points I like are much bigger than the points I don't. Most of the minuses are little details. It's worth noting that I think the Update All functionality is limited to premium accounts (which Curse seems to have given me one of for free); I tried to make a regular account to test, but that one seemed to be flagged as premium too. Gom download for mac. I'm not sure what the deal is there.
Anyway, if you haven't used the Mac Curse Client since v3, it's worth. You're likely to be pleasantly surprised. I would also like to say to the Curse dev team (if you're reading) that you've made huge progress in this version, and I really enjoy it.
